Golf Report
Dear members,
We are very excited to launch TrackMan Range this Saturday, August 7th. We are the third club in Canada to install one of the most revolutionary training tools in the golf industry. The radars track the full trajectory of any shot with margin of error of less than 1 foot at 100 yds. TrackMan Range shows eight of TrackMan’s pinpoint-accurate ball parameters:
Carry Distance – how far the ball travels in the air
Total Distance – how far the ball travels in the air and on the ground
Ball Speed – the speed of the golf ball’s centre of gravity immediately after separation from the club face
Height – the maximum height the golf ball travels into the air
Launch Angle – the vertical angle relative to the horizon of the golf ball’s centre of gravity movement immediately after leaving the club face
Launch Direction – the horizontal angle relative to the target line of the golf ball’s centre of gravity movement immediately after separation from the club face (post impact)
Side – the perpendicular distance between the target line and where the trajectory crosses a point that is the same height as where the ball was launched from (resting point prior to impact)
From Pin – the distance away from a selected target on the range
As we soft launch the experience, our Professional Staff will be available to assist members with trying out the very user-friendly app. This will surely enhance your practice experience, and we encourage everyone to get their distances dialed in! We also look forward to sometime in October when we will be able to play Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club through virtual golf! Stay tuned for more info. Below are a few videos to introduce TrackMan Range to those of you who may not be familiar with the system.

Hello fellow members,
The weather has been amazing as we head into the final stages of the club championships match play brackets and onwards to Club Championship weekend, make sure to come watch the finals on Sunday, August 15th.
Congratulations to Team Susan Russell for captaining her team to the victory at the Captains’ Classic 2021; good fun was had by all. Thanks to Michael Thompson and the team for putting on another awesome tournament.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the Round Up 2021 sign-up sheet, the quest for the Green Jacket begins.
As we do every year, there will be handicap audits, so make sure your rounds played match your rounds entered. Make sure your handicap posting is up to date with Championship Weekend and Round Up around the corner. Let’s avoid the embarrassing emails and calls we have to deal with every year.
Congrats to Patrick Weeks on his recent runner-up finish at the BC Men’s Amateur held at Storey Creek and for representing Shaughnessy at the Canadian Men’s Amateur that was held in Windsor, ON.
Thank you to Andrew Hart and his team for the fantastic conditions we have seen all year. Members, with all of the play and traffic each day, please keep doing your part by filling the divots, repairing ball marks and obeying roped areas to ease traffic patterns.
Let’s also avoid leaving beer cans behind trees.
Lastly, soak up the golf while the fantastic weather continues.
Respectfully submitted,
Sean Crowther
